In an effort to connect with more moms I am having some of my mommy friends guest blog over the next few weeks. Some are working moms, some are stay at home moms but they can each offer a different perspective into the world of motherhood.
My next guest blogger is Lacy, a full-time working mom.
Quantity vs Quality Time
Our family is a good example of one who strives to find that daily balance between "Quantity vs Quality" time.
My husband and I both work full time jobs and have fairly lengthy commutes as well.
Our schedules challenge us to be creative with our family's quality time since the quantity of time isn't there.
We do our best to make the most of what time we have together whether it be as simple as a family walk, an outing to the station to wave at trains passing by, or monthly "Family fun days" where we check out a new children's museum, park, or local attraction like the food trucks. We have found many family friendly activities that let us be together and build memories.
I heard it once said that it is better to accumulate memories than things.
Memories are all we can take with us after this life and that statement has left such an impact on me!
Our son is just over a year & a half old. He is a little firecracker who loves to explore, is incredibly loving and definitely has an independent spirit. It is the most joyous experience to watch him develop and grow and know that as parents, we're growing alongside him.
I won't lie to you, there are plenty of days where work sucks, traffic sucks and I get home and turn on a video for him so I can just simply decompress!
Not every day is chock full of activities and I have to remind myself that's ok, life is about balance.
No matter what we are doing though, I so enjoy my time with him because it is that much more precious since it is limited.
Although you might not hear a lot of moms say it, I really do enjoy my career.
As much as I love my son, I knew that I wasn't meant to be a stay-at-home mom & I'm ok with that.
Yes, I did just say that! Do I love every aspect of my job? Certainly not. Do I wish I had more time with my family? Who doesn't? But I am grateful to God to have a career that I enjoy and allows me to provide well for my family.
If I could encourage those reading this post in one thing, it would be to tell you that no matter what path you are on, be proud of it & pursue it with everything you've got! It's where God has placed you and you are purposed to be there!
